![]() CNBC's Pippa Stevens contributed to this report. If i search it on chrome it does appear but if i try. Brinker International will post results on November 3. The Big Short disappeared from Netflix (Italy) I put the film on my list some time ago, but today it disappeared. The Chili's parent now expects adjusted earnings of 34 cents, compared to the 69 cents Wall Street was expecting. "The covid surge starting in August exacerbated the industry-wide labor and commodity challenges and impacted our margins and bottom line more than we anticipated," CEO Wyman Roberts said in a statement. Revenue came in at $3.44 billion, slightly short of the expected $3.46 billion.īrinker International - Shares of Brinker International declined 10% after the company issued preliminary financial results for its fiscal first quarter. The company earned $1.65 per share compared to the $1.37 analysts surveyed by StreetAccount were expecting. Omnicom Group - Omnicom Group shares slipped more than 3% during extended trading following the media company's third-quarter results. If you liked The Big Short, we highly recommend checking out Boiler Room (2000), Capitalism: A Love Story (2009), Inside Job (2010), Margin Call (2011), Too Big to Fail (2011) and The Wolf of Wall. The financial services company reported profit of 78 cents per share versus 76 cents expected, according to Refinitiv. ![]() Interactive Brokers - Shares of Interactive Brokers fell about 1% after hours despite an earnings beat. Netflix also saw 4.4 million global paid net subscriber additions in the third quarter, solidly beating the StreetAccount estimate of 3.84 million. The company reported profit of $3.19 per share versus the Refinitiv consensus of $2.56 per share. ![]() Netflix - Netflix shares whipsawed in extended trading after the streaming giant beat Wall Street estimates on earnings and subscriber growth. ![]() ![]() ![]() A second, less advanced Terminator (Schwarzenegger) is also sent back in time to protect John. Terminator 2 follows Sarah Connor (Hamilton) and her thirteen-year-old son John (Furlong) as they are pursued by a new, more advanced Terminator: the liquid metal, shapeshifting T-1000 (Patrick), sent back in time to kill John Connor and prevent him from becoming the leader of the human resistance. It is the sequel to the 1984 film The Terminator, as well as the second installment in the Terminator franchise. The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick, and Edward Furlong as its principal cast. It ends on a cryptic note, leaving the possibility of a fourth Terminator film open.Terminator 2: Judgment Day (also promoted as T2) is a 1991 American science fiction action film produced and directed by James Cameron, who co-wrote the script with William Wisher. It's big, loud, and fun, and that's really all we want. But this is the sort of movie that too much thinking will ruin. All the events occur during the span of one very chaotic day. They never looked phony and blended in nicely. The use of computer effects never distacted me from the action. There is a very clever chase sequence early on in the picture which is almost worth the price of admission. ![]() Arnold actually tends to stay out of the way of the story and lets the other actors take the spotlight, and he almost ends up as a supporting actor. The rest of the cast does a great job of holding the movie together. There are some new faces this time, including a new actor (Nick Stahl) taking the place of Edward Furlong as John Connor, and he fits right in and I didn't miss Furlong for one second. Arnold is an older model of Terminator, who is sent back as well to prevent the death of John Connor. She is never used as a sex object, which is a nice change for Hollywood. The fact that she is female makes very little difference during the course of the story. The female terminator is very effective and menacing. I was pretty apprehensive of a female terminator, thinking it was a cheap gimmic to throw some t&a into the film, but I was wrong. This time the terminator is in the form of a very attractive woman (who we get to see a very brief glimpse of naked when she arrives). The story picks up about ten years after the last Terminator film, with the arrival of a deadly Terminator sent back from the future to eliminate John Connor before he can lead the world in the fight against a hostile takeover by intellegent machines. Terminator 3 is a very good movie, with a truck load of action and a few good laughs as well. In the chaotic final sequences Schwarzenegger warns "she'll be back," hinting that there's more Terminator frenzy to come in the not-too-distant future.Īfter seeing this film, I still feel that a third Terminator film was somewhat unneccesary, but this latest addition is by no means a hollow action picture cashing in on popular characters. Mostow also offers intriguing storylines continued from the previous two films, delighting fans of the franchise. Hell-bent on destroying Connor, Brewster, and anyone else that gets in her way, Loken's Terminator comes face to face with Schwarzenegger's Terminator leading to some epic battles between the two cyborgs, and a neat string of one-liners from Schwarzenegger.Director Jonathan Mostow (U-571) clearly relishes upping the CGI ante for this explosive sequel, providing some no-holds-barred action sequences. When Connor breaks into a lab to score some painkillers, he unwittingly runs into his future belle Kate Brewster (Claire Danes), and a whole load of titanium-plated-trouble in the form of a hot female Terminator played by newcomer Kristanna Loken. We soon discover that Connor has become something of a drifter, his mother Sarah Connor has passed away, and he has taken to the road in order to preserve himself for his supposed destiny. Returning for a third bout of cyborg time travelling, Arnold Schwarzenegger reprises his good-robot role from TERMINATOR 2, once again travelling back from the future to protect future human resistance leader John Connor (played this time around by Nick Stahl). ![]() ![]() ![]() These games all have in common, a complex control system that can be put to use in imaginative and creative ways to get the edge over your opponents. Or it could be learning the complex move lists in a game like Street Fighter. Maybe it’s learning the perfect combination of angles and trajectories in Videoball. Or, perhaps, it’s using the limited running and jumping slightly better than other players to get a win in Fall Guys. This might be understanding how the propulsion of your car lets you take to the air and hit a perfect shot in Rocket League. Whether you rise through the league tables, or just improve compared to your family, the satisfaction or getting to grips with something so monumentally challenging is really satisfying. Rather than offering assistance, these games leave you to it. Rather than relying on the stats of your character or player, you have to execute the moves yourself with timing proficiency and instinct. Whereas many games simplify getting around, these games make the complexity and depth of their movement systems part of the joy of playing them. There are a small group of games that hone this challenge down to the mechanics of moving around the environment. It takes time to understand their systems, mechanics, objectives and worlds. When someone plays a game too much it’s easy to think they are taking an easy route to something entertaining, like junk food. Games offer us challenges on many levels. In video games, we step into other bodies so we can better understand our own and those of the people around us. In travel, as Andrew Soloman says, we go somewhere else to see properly the place where we have come from. More specifically, to use body therapy language, games offer us a chance to discover the inviolability of our bodies, personal autonomy, self-ownership, and self-determination. Whether this is into the awkward teenage years of Mord and Ben in Wide Ocean Big Jacket, the grandparent-escaping Tiger and Bee in Kissy Kissy, the fractured heartbroken body in Gris or the haphazard movement of Octodad we have a chance to reassess our own physicality and how we respond to and treat other people's physicality. Stepping into the shoes of a vulnerable, small or endangered character can help us understand for a short while some of what it is like to be someone else. This is not only an enjoyable way to escape the reality of daily life but a chance to reflect on and understand ourselves, and our bodies, better. ![]() Whether we step into the powerful frame of a trained marksman or brave adventurer, while we play we have a different sense of our physicality. Video games offer an opportunity to inhabit another body. But also, some of the games (like Tearaway) let you download templates to cut, stick and make the video game characters in real life. The overlap between real world messy-craft and these games can be through the inspiration of making things. ![]() Then there are games like Chicory: A Colorful Tale, that invite players to bring a world to life with paint. Others, like Townscaper, are a way to see the impact of the built environment. Some of these, like Stormworks, offer a way to experiment with the physics of fluids and gravity. The games here mirror this combination of wonder and hands-on science. His book offers playful projects that teach about the centre of gravity, toroidal vortexes, smoke-rings and electromagnetism. This list offers games picked out with the help of Alom Shaha, Physics teacher, author of Mr Shaha’s Marvellous Machines and father of two. However, there are many games that offer players a chance to be the creators, inventors and instigators of some of the most marvellous machines. Unchangeable, uncreative and demanding repetition of players. Video games are often thought of as turning children into small cogs in a machine. ![]() |
